Ethiopia faces multiple humanitarian challenges including conflict-driven displacement, particularly in the Tigray region, recurring droughts, and food insecurity. We support displaced communities, provide emergency aid, and work with local partners to build resilience and promote peace.
The Situation
The conflict in Tigray (2020-2022) created a devastating humanitarian crisis with widespread displacement, destruction of infrastructure, and severe food insecurity. Hundreds of thousands were displaced within Tigray and to neighboring regions. While active conflict has subsided, communities face immense challenges rebuilding their lives with limited resources, damaged health facilities, and disrupted livelihoods. Drought and food insecurity compound the suffering across the country.

Our Impact in Ethiopia
Returning Home to Tigray
Mebrat fled her village in Tigray when conflict reached her community. She spent two years displaced in a camp in Amhara region, separated from her home and livelihood. When she finally returned to Tigray, her home was damaged and her fields destroyed. Our team provided emergency shelter materials, food assistance, and agricultural tools to help her restart farming. We also connected her with psychosocial support to help process the trauma of displacement. Today, Mebrat is rebuilding her life, though challenges remain. She's growing crops again and her children are back in school.
"I never thought I would see my home again. The support helped me return with dignity and gave me hope to rebuild what was lost."
